The Rule of Thirds
This is a photograph of a sculpture I took in a public garden in Leicester. It obeys the rule of thirds in that points of interest are on a line or where lines cross. In this picture the lines cross on the face and the body lies roughly on the first vertical line . This also works because the face of the statue is looking into the centre of the picture; if it was looking the other way the picture would be less effective . |
This is not one of my pictures, The points of interest all fall on lines or where lines cross. The other interesting thing about it is the way the beach curves into the central frame , which contains the thing that makes you look - the arch. The horizon is exactly along the top third line. The whole picture divides up perfectly. |
